Well, I spent the last week writing about something else entirely for this month’s Leo Full Moon Deep Dive.
But then, two nights ago, I had a dream.
Actually, it was more like a prophecy. Or an omen or portent or other species of consequential psychic vision. And, if you continue to read this post, you’ll come to learn that it wasn’t a particularly gentle one (consider this your official trigger warning).
This vision has changed everything for me, including this month’s Full Moon Deep Dive.
Why? Well, because when I woke up, I realized that I’ve been experiencing a lot of similar, seemingly related dreams and downloads with themes of the Wood Snake Year: stagnation, illness, grief, death, fog, ghosts, deception, disillusionment and bursts of the yin fire element. And, despite knowing that these would be some of the key themes, the actual experience of seeing and feeling it unfold in real time has been slapping a bit harder than I had anticipated.
As I was sipping my morning coffee and contemplating all of this heavy high strangeness, I remembered that I had also been increasingly feeling the presence of a very old and very powerful deity: Prometheus. Not only is he the Titan associated with both fire and snakes, but he’s also the oldest god of prophecy in the ancient Greco/ Roman pantheon— literally infinitely older than the Olympians, including Zeus!
Prometheus is most famous for gifting humanity with the “fire of the gods”, a nebulous term that almost certainly didn’t just mean literal fire at your local camp ground. As a result of this forbidden gift to help humanity, Zeus tied Prometheus to the side of a mountain for aeons, tasking an eagle with eating his liver everyday— only to have it regenerate at night to kick off the tortuous cycle all over again the next day.
Classic Zeus. Absolutely 0% chill.
In the last few days, I slowly realized that the convergence of Prometheus and the Wood Snake Year in my psychic life was likely not a coincidence, nor was the building psychic pressure— and deluge of downloads— as we head into the Leo Full Moon. It became increasingly obvious to me that this Wood Snake Year is going to present unexpectedly tricky challenges, particularly for those of us with psychic “gifts” or energetic sensitivities.
Oh— and doubly so for those of us psychics that are also in need of some serious nervous system recovery, but I repeat myself. After all: the Venn Diagram between psychics and people with anxiety is a circle!
And, while I will seek to roll up my sleeves and propose some human-scaled, constructive solutions alongside the psychic data I’ll share in this post below, it’s worth noting: this is not a love and light Full Moon Deep Dive. As I learned in mediumship training, it’s not for me to edit an overt prophecy from spirit in an effort to make it more palatable to the reader and, as a result, more comfortable for me. It’s not about me or my comfort, and that kind of selfish interference can generate psychic static, ultimately muddying the prophecy’s message and reducing its efficacy— never mind interfering with the recipients’ karma.
The long and the short of it? A prophecy, whether delivered in dream form or in a channeling session, needs to be delivered in its precise language. Even the smallest turn of phrase could manifest as the game-changing difference when navigating the events as they unfold in real time.
This post is also going to be a bit longer and meatier than usual, as I feel compelled to share a quick-turn “Surviving the Wood Snake Year” checklist (longer version will be coming as a part of our Feng Shui Your Life series here on Substack). I mean, if I’m going to bum you out with tales of sulphur and ash and worms and ghosts, the least I can do is provide some semblance of a silver lining— and human-scaled set of practical tips and tricks!
The upshot? Gods of prophecy, like Prometheus, are always also the primary gods of shamanism. Yes, working with them as Spirit Guides necessarily brings with it suffering, sacrifice, and psychic dismemberment— you know, like feeling tied to the side of a mountain while an eagle pecks out our liver everyday. But these beings also bring the magic of forbidden knowledge, divination, resurrection and unstoppable resilience.
Said another way? What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger— and more psychic!
What’s more: gods of prophecy don’t show up with disturbing visions or sidewinding portents because they don’t care about us or the future. They do care, and this investment in us as individuals and as a species is evident in their insistence on there being a tomorrow— and a new day for humanity.
