It's the spookiest AND busiest time of the year at TOTEM!

It’s the most wonderful and Woo time of the year!

The leaves are starting to fall. The sun is setting earlier and earlier. The smell of pumpkin spice latte is filling the air. And the ghosts, goblins and more are starting to pop through the increasingly thinning veil that separates our worlds.

There’s something about this shift that gets folks thinking about the world of Woo and, as a result, making things around here at TOTEM really busy. This year in particular is already ushering in an unprecedented surge of activity for our small spiritual practice, so I wanted to flag a couple of tips and tricks for anyone feeling the urge to dig into the supernatural during this spooky season:

One-on-one psychic sessions

I offer a variety of one-on-one services and sessions via TOTEM Readings, including:

Every fall, demand for these one-on-one sessions exceeds supply, so if you’re interested in scheduling one I encourage you to book it as early as possible. In the last two days, six clients reached out to see if I had “space” to “squeeze [them] in” for a short notice session; unfortunately, I did not have any wiggle room in an already booked calendar and likely will not through the end of December.

This is particularly true for the week(s) surrounding Halloween, so please plan at least 2-3 weeks ahead if you’re interested in securing a session in one of those coveted Halloween one-on-one session spots!

TOTEM Readings ATX Etsy shop

First, a huge THANK YOU to everyone that has made a purchase from our TOTEM Readings ATX Etsy Shop in the last month— we’ve sold more flower essences and self-published decks in the last two months than we did in our whole first year as an online marketplace!

And, while I’ve been dedicated days off of client-facing work to formulate, bottle and re-stock many of our best-selling flower essences, we may be running out of some of your favorites before the end of the year.

Why? Well, because I grow every plant, flower, tree and herb from organic seed in our backyard garden and make our TOTEM Flower Essences in the old world, analogue way. I do this to ensure that our TOTEM Flower Essences don’t have ANY pesticides, herbicides or other “forever chemicals”, but this analogue style of organic, hands-on gardening has its limitations— especially when it comes to scale.

Said another way?

We’re not industrial-farming football fields of chemical-laden plants, nor are we sourcing our ingredients (like flower petals, bark trimmings, etc.) from other potentially shady providers. This borderline-obsessive commitment to quality means that we can only grow and make that which nature provides us in our small little hamlet with Austin, TX. When we officially run out of a flower essence “mother” (i.e. the jar housing the plant matter with grain alcohol), we’re out of that essence until the next growing season.

So, if you have favorites that you know you’ll want to have on hand through the winter OR have been eying a few of our essences for holiday gifts or stocking stuffers, I would encourage you to take advantage of our 60% off sale right now on Etsy.

As for best-sellers that we’ve already re-stocked multiple times in the last few months, here are the hits:

If these are your go-to’s, I would suggest stocking up sooner rather than later! And keep an eye out for “re-stocked” alerts on flower essences we’re making in the coming weeks, including the currently sold out Garden of Eden and Oracle flower essences.

It’s also worth noting that we are down to our last little stock of our self-published TOTEM Tarot Deck, available on our Etsy shop and on Amazon. We have no plans to do another run of printing of this deck in the foreseeable future, so if you wanted to gift this special deck this holiday season— or just get a back-up copy— now is the time. We’re planning to run a Black Friday sale on the deck across platforms, and expect to be “sold out” of this tarot deck before the end of the year.

We still have plenty of our new TOTEM Flower Essence Deck, though, and the rave reviews continue to come in for our fresh take on a herbal-infused oracle deck!

The Skeptical Shaman Podcast

As we’ve previously written about HERE on Substack, The Skeptical Shaman is taking a bit of a break from publishing new, standard episodes on Apple, Google and Spotify.

During this “break”, we’ve actually been recording episodes in a *special series* exploring human-scaled supernatural stories. Starting October 1st, we’ll be sharing the whole bundle of these super-bingeable, sort-of-spooky tales exclusively for paid subscribers here on Substack before we start to drip them to other podcast platforms on a weekly basis.
