Omg, I don't ever want to design another ppt again! In my time, I've gotten asked to design what feels like the opposite of the 3 point ppt - the..."I can't possibly condense this very long statement into a bullet point, so instead just include all of it so I can read it directly from the slide, k, thx." ::eyeroll:: I did my best to make it look nice, but oof...Oh, and the times when the videos I've made are just glorified ppts. SO grateful to be past that now. Phew!

I really appreciate this episode's invitation to make for ourselves first. I don't post frequently to IG, and I feel like my websites and reels reflect me from x number of years ago and are perpetually in need of a refresh (and they are), but at the same time, they are outdated because we're doing so many other things behind the scenes like building a business, white label client work, traveling, personal artistic discovery, client curation, moving cross country...all these things that ultimately are so much more rewarding than seeing how many people a post or story can reach.

There have been times when I have gotten caught up in engagement and wanting folks to like what I make/value myself based on views, and that zaps all of the fun out of it. Even now as my new endeavor is starting to take shape, I am very cognizant of not focusing on monetization before it even exists. Been there, and it sucks. Those projects died on the vine. Organic discussions with interesting people...that sounds way more rewarding.

My God I loved this. So glad you talked about the ridiculousness of the three point power slide, too. I remember being in high school falling asleep with these wondering wtf we were supposed to be learning. And I LOVE long form content! I too find bite-size tidbit presentation of deep and complex subjects to be an insult to our intelligence. PS-Sometimes I enjoy your longer posts while Iā€™m in my salt bath.

Iā€™m slowly unfollowing all of my colleagues who post ā€œdry humpā€clickbait bs. Thank you for articulating that ick so well.
