Love our flickers, the local ones know our cedar siding might have treats and come visit. They are pretty much fearless and go about their business whether we’re outside or not. Our favorite totem animals this year are the pair of blue birds that have moved in-it’s been a happy summer even with the hassles, our woodchuck Otto-lives in the wood shed, and our sandhill cranes that are getting ready to migrate. Have a juvenile red tail hawk that likes to perch on our front deck rail.’ Lots of avian energy...
I love the frogs! We have marsh in the back of property and the frog chorus announces when spring is here to stay. Murder of crows just settled in to make their displeasure known. They’re loud and sound like they are having in a good time complaining. I’ve seen a fox in the last month, which is unusual, but we have local coyotes that like to sing during the brighter moon phases. We have turkeys in and out this year too-they are fairly common but aren’t always on our property. I have enough TOTEM critters to keep me busy if I want to work with them. They keep us company. They seem to cycle in and out from year to year.

I love this! The flicker has already come and left, but now we have the squeaky tree frogs!
